MODUS X joined a panel discussion at DOU Day Picnic, the largest event in the IT community, dedicated to personal data protection. The main topic of the discussion was cybersecurity in the context of the full-scale war in Ukraine, which has gained particular relevance due to the unprecedented level of cyberattacks.
Yurii Shatylo, Head of Cybersecurity at MODUS X, shared the company’s experience in overcoming cyber threats during the full-scaleinvasion. He emphasized that the key success factor was the team:
"Without the team, without people, nothing would have been possible. From thefirst day of the invasion, the safety of employees was the top priority, as they were responsible for ensuring the implementation of all criticalprocesses. Even before the invasion, MODUS X had developed a plan to migrate data and systems to the cloud, and within 2.5 months, the team successfully completed this process. This ensured the company’s operational continuity andresistance to numerous cyberattacks."
An important step was also the creation of a Security Operation Center (SOC), which concentrated advanced technologies, trained specialists, and optimized processes. This center has been instrumental ineffectively countering over 27 million cyberattacks on energy infrastructure since the beginning of 2022.
One of the key discussion points was the implementation of inter national cybersecurity standards, such as GDPR, which regulates the processing and protection of personal data. Yurii emphasized the importance of adhering to these standards to protect data, but he also expressed concerns about potential abuses by regulatory authorities: "On the one hand, we are protecting personal data, which is a crucial task, but on the other, we don’t want these standards to be used as a pretext for unjustified audits or raids on the IT sector, as was the case 5-10 years ago," he noted.
The Head of Cybersecurity at MODUS X also emphasized the importance of increasing cyber awareness among the population. He pointed out that MODUS X has been actively working on this for many years by implementing specialized training programs for its employees and clients, including DTEK Group of Companies. These programs involve interactive training sessions that simulate real cyber situations, helping people effectively recognize threats and respond appropriately.
MODUS X takes pride in its achievements in cybersecurity. “In response to the new challenges of war, we implemented a flexible security strategy that allows employees to work seamlessly, even in crisis situations. This strategy enables work from any device and location, which is especially important when access to office infrastructure is limited. This solution allows us not only to maintain operational activities but also to effectively protect data confidentiality,” Yurii emphasized.
Additionally, the company achieved 30% automation of cyber processes, significantly reducing the impact of human error in incident response. "Our goal is to increase this figure to 40% by using artificial intelligence to assess risks and develop new technical solutions."
MODUS X handles over a million cyber events weekly, with about100-150 being serious incidents. The company’s systems actively respond to DoSattacks and other threats, ensuring constant readiness for new challenges. “Wecontinuously improve our processes to always stay a step ahead of attackers andensure security at all levels,” Yuriy Shatylo concluded.
MODUS X continues to demonstrate leadership in the field ofcybersecurity in Ukraine, applying innovative approaches and high protectionstandards in the face of modern threats. The company is constantly working onimproving its processes and technologies, providing reliable data protectionfor its clients and partners.
