Implementing a resilient Wi-Fi solution from Cisco: DTEK Group' s experience

In response to the challenges posed by the outbreak of war in Ukraine and the potential loss of infrastructure, DTEK Group initiated a critical project to ensure the uninterrupted operation of its employees and processes. Together with MODUS X, DTEK developed and implemented a fault-tolerant Wi-Fi solution using advanced technologies from Cisco, which minimized the risks associated with the potential failure of data centers and loss of control over the Wi-Fi network.

The company decided to abandon Cisco Controller Redundancy technology and switched to using two independent controllers, and DTEK was able to ensure maximum fault tolerance of the Wi-Fi network. This approach made it possible to avoid a single point of failure typical for traditional cluster solutions.

By switching all unique networks (SSIDs) to FlexConnect Local Switching mode, the company ensured local traffic switching at access points, which significantly reduced dependence on centralized controllers and increased network performance.

Thanks to this integrated approach, DTEK was able to:

Results:

In just 14 days, we managed to rebuild the network architecture, making it more reliable and accessible. The project covered dozens of remote sites and thousands of employees, providing the flexibility and scalability of the IT infrastructure that is critical to maintaining business stability.
