On-Premise Data Center Implementation for DTEK

Traditional data storage methods often fail to meet modern requirements. Growing data volumes, the need for uninterrupted access, and high risks of infrastructure failure due to external factors make on-premise data storage increasingly complex and expensive. Data centers (DCs) provide modern solutions, ensuring complete control over your data while guaranteeing confidentiality and availability.

The world is drowning in information. Every second, billions of gigabytes of data are generated, from trivial social media messages to complex scientific research.

Businesses are no exception. The volumes of information they handle continue to grow, including accounting reports, customer data, marketing studies, and project documentation, all of which require secure and reliable storage.

DTEK successfully implemented an on-premise data center to:

  • Gain full control over infrastructure, ensuring flexibility in resource configuration, management, and expansion.
  • Enhance security and confidentiality by storing and processing data on internal servers, reducing data breach risks.
  • Easily integrate new technologies and equipment with existing systems for seamless business processes.
  • Reduce dependency on external providers by minimizing reliance on external cloud services and avoiding issues with service interruptions or pricing changes.
  • Optimize IT resource costs with flexible scalability tailored to company needs, avoiding limitations typical of cloud solutions.

Implemented Solution:

  • Cloud Integration: Connectivity with cloud platforms like Azure and AWS for greater operational flexibility.
  • Fault-Tolerant Data Center: Certified to TIA 942 Tier III standards, ensuring uninterrupted service even during failures.
  • Engineering Infrastructure: Structured cabling, power distribution, and control systems ensure efficient and reliable equipment operation.
  • Network Infrastructure: High-availability design with triple-redundant internet channels, direct connections to cloud storage via Direct Connect and ExpressRoute, and Cisco ACI for network unification. Security is supported by Check Point Maestro, and virtualization by VMware NSX-T.
  • Computing Infrastructure: Leveraging Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) servers and storage systems for high performance and scalability.

This solution delivered an SLA of 99.98% and a maximum of 16 hours of planned downtime annually, ensuring uninterrupted operation of critical services and future scalability.
